Christmas party at a cabin near Oslo: the entire house is yours, for 8 to 150 guests

Aug. 28, 2026

A Christmas party at a cabin means you won’t have to share the space with three other companies. You rent the entire cabin—dinner, lodging, sauna, and breakfast—all under one roof. Three locations near Oslo, with space for groups ranging from 8 to 150 people.

How many of you are there?

That is the question that determines where the group fits in.

8 to 18 people

  • Budor Alpine Lodge — Accommodates 12 guests, with ski-in/ski-out access
  • Løvsangeren, Budor — 14 guests, wood-fired hot tub and sauna
  • Østerdalsstua, Mjøsli — 18 guests, in an 18th-century building that was dismantled and moved here stone by stone
  • Casa Leo, Budor — 18 guests, with 16 beds and skiing right from the doorstep

20 to 30 people

  • Trollstua, Mjøsli — 20 people for a meeting and dinner (without overnight stay), with a fire pit and terrace
  • Mjøsli Lodge — meeting and dinner for 30, 8 beds + neighboring cabins, hot tub
  • The Hunting Lodge, Malungen — Seats 30, 23 beds (up to 79 in the courtyard), private hot tub, and private dock

Up to 150 people

  • The banquet hall at Malungen Gjestegård — a day conference for 150 people with food provided by our catering partner, and 79 overnight accommodations on-site

If you're a large group planning to stay overnight, Malungen is the answer. The banquet hall, cabins, and private meeting rooms are all in one place, so no one has to drive between dinner and bedtime.

Malungen has a maximum capacity of 79 beds. If more people need to stay overnight, we’ll arrange a bus to Mjøsli —then the whole group will eat together at Gildehallen and stay at two different locations.

"We've used it several times for team retreats. It has comfortable beds, 3 bathrooms, plenty of nice living areas, and absolutely everything you need for a great stay. 5 stars!"

How long does it take to get there?

This usually determines the choice. A group of 25 cares more about travel time than about the view.

  • Mjøsli: 1 hour from Oslo, 30 minutes from Gardermoen
  • Budor: 1.5 hours from Oslo, 1 hour from Gardermoen
  • Malungen: 1.5 hours from Oslo, 1 hour from Gardermoen

If you have colleagues flying in, Mjøsli is just a half-hour away from the terminal. They can land at four and be seated at the table by six.

What distinguishes these three places?

  • Mjøsli Located on Lake Mjøsa, closest to Oslo, with a panoramic view of the lake. It offers the shortest travel distance and is the most convenient location for people coming from various directions.
  • Budor is the mountain. 650 meters above sea level, snow from early winter, cross-country trails, and a downhill slope right outside. Choose this if your itinerary includes activities in the snow.
  • Malungen is the place for large companies. Dedicated conference rooms, a banquet hall, and catering all in one place—the only one of the three that can accommodate 100 or more.

What's included?

  • Bedding and towels for everyone
  • Final wash
  • Wi-Fi
  • Contactless check-in — you'll receive the code for the key box in advance
  • Electric car chargers at most conference cabins

Check-in starts at 4 p.m., check-out is at 12 p.m. If you need the house for longer on the day of departure, please let us know well in advance.

What about the food?

The banquet hall at Malungen does not have its own kitchen. Our catering partner delivers all the food there, so you don't have to worry about the kitchen at all.

At the cabins, we handle this through our catering partners: Hai Catering, Smakfull Catering, and Innlandet Catering. They deliver right to your door, so you don't have to worry about grocery shopping or doing the dishes.

If you'd rather cook for yourselves, the kitchen is fully equipped, and groceries can be ordered online and delivered to the cabin.

Can we combine the Christmas party with something else?

This is where the cabin beats the restaurant. You're there around the clock, so the fun doesn't have to stop once dessert is cleared away.

  • Wood-fired hot tub and sauna in the evening
  • Husky sledding and a snowshoe hike in the woods at Budor
  • Cross-country trails and a downhill ski slope right outside
  • Swimming dock and hot tub at Jaktslottet
  • Fire pits and barbecue shelters in several locations

Activities are booked separately. Let us know what you have in mind, and we'll set it up.

When should we make a reservation?

We don't have booking deadlines. You can book whenever it's convenient for you—even at the last minute.

The only factor that determines the timing is the size of the group. The larger the group, the fewer suitable venues there are, and the large ones are booked first simply because there are fewer of them. If there are more than 30 of you, it pays to book early. If there are eight of you, you have quite a bit of flexibility.

If you're flexible about the day of the week, you'll have more options regardless of the size of your group. A Christmas party on Tuesday or Wednesday often offers a better selection and a less crowded venue.

How much does it cost?

Lunch at the " Mjøsli " Lodge starting at 8,950 kroner for 8 people—the entire cabin, including a meeting room and accommodations. Meals are not included, and prices vary depending on the season and demand.

The final price depends on the location, group size, and number of nights. You're renting the entire house, not individual rooms—so the price remains the same even if someone cancels the day before.
